About Bay & Birch Kids

Welcome to Bay & Birch Kids — a place for families who want to get their kids outside in Ontario, Canada. Named after Georgian Bay and my favourite childhood camp team Birch, this site hopes to inspire you to get out of your head and into nature.

My name is Summer & I’m a Canadian mom of two young kids. We camp, hike, swim, explore, and generally keep busy chasing two high-energy kids who are close in age!

Like many parents, I spend a lot of time researching gear before we buy it. I genuinely love comparing products, reading reviews, and finding the things that make family adventures easier. We have been camping, hiking, swimming, biking & running for years and our packing & prep has evolved!

Bay & Birch Kids was created to share those discoveries with other parents.

Here you’ll find practical camping and hiking guides, family-friendly outdoor tips, product recommendations, and Top 10 gear lists (featuring the items I think are worth knowing about). My goal is to save you some of the research time and help you find products that make getting outside with kids a little easier.

Our outdoor adventures with kids aren’t always picture-perfect — but I know when I’m old and tired I will look back on the photos and know that they truly were.
